Line 01 / Box truck dispatch

Box truck dispatch for 26-footers. Not a foot less.

We dispatch 26 ft box trucks only. That's a filter, not an apology: at 26 ft the truck takes the pallet counts and the liftgate freight that pay, and we can keep it moving at a rate worth the fee. Partials, final mile, expedited and dedicated routes, CDL or non-CDL, at 7% of gross with no contract.

Line 02 / Why 26 ft is our floor

A 26 ft box truck dispatcher, by choice

Most box truck dispatch companies take anything with a roll-up door. We don't, because the freight doesn't treat all boxes the same, and neither should the fee.

  • Pallet count

Many partial and LTL-style loads are quoted in pallets. A 26 ft box fits roughly a dozen standard pallets on the floor; a 16 ft box fits far fewer. Fewer pallets means fewer loads you can even bid on.

  • Liftgate freight

Final mile and residential deliveries often need a liftgate and a truck that can take a full order in one trip. That's the work a 26-footer is built for.

  • Rate per stop

Shippers and brokers price small trucks low. A bigger box carries more per trip, so the same stop count pays more and one dispatch call earns more for you.

  • Our time on your truck

Booking a week for a box truck takes more calls than for a dry van. At 26 ft, those calls fill the truck. Below it, they mostly don't.

Line 03 / A hypothetical month

Carrier A runs one 26 ft box. Here is the month, both ways.

Carrier A is made up, and so are the starting numbers, except the diesel price, which is the EIA U.S. average for the week of 2026-09-28. Change any input. Then flip to self-dispatched and put in the miles you think you'd book on your own. Box truck money is thin per load, so the fee and the fuel decide the month.

Two things to check before you trust any box truck dispatch service with your month. First, your cost per mile: the trucking cost per mile calculator gives you the floor. Second, what each offer really pays once the empty miles are counted: the rate per mile calculator does that in seconds.

Line 04 / IFTA, CDL and the 26,000 lb line

Does a box truck need IFTA? CDL or not? The weight decides.

IFTA

A qualified motor vehicle has two axles and a gross vehicle weight or registered gross vehicle weight over 26,000 lb (11,797 kg), or three or more axles regardless of weight, or is used in combination when the combined weight is over 26,000 lb.

So a two-axle box truck rated at 26,000 lb or less is not an IFTA qualified vehicle and needs no IFTA license for itself, while one rated over 26,000 lb, or pulling a trailer that takes the combination over, does. Get it wrong one way and you file returns you don't owe; the other way and you run without a license you need.

Plain explanation of the whole program: what is IFTA in trucking.

Non CDL box truck dispatch

A CDL is needed for a single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 lb or more. Many 26 ft box trucks are rated at 26,000 lb or just under, so they can be driven without a CDL, unless they haul placarded hazmat. Check the rating on the door label, not the ad.

One knock-on effect: drivers of non-CDL trucks are not covered by the DOT drug and alcohol testing rules in 49 CFR Part 382, so a non-CDL box truck carrier doesn't need a testing consortium. A CDL box truck under your own authority does.

Line 05 / Freight we book

Straight truck dispatch service, load by load

Every offer comes to you first with the pickup, the drop, the pallet count, liftgate or dock, the miles both ways and the rate. The rate confirmation goes straight to you and you decide. A load you turn down costs nothing.

Partials and LTL-style loads

A few pallets to a few stops. We stack them so the truck runs full more of the day.

Final mile and liftgate

Appliances, furniture and retail orders to homes and stores, where a 26 ft box with a liftgate is the right truck.

Expedited

Time-critical freight that can't wait for a full truckload. Higher rates, tighter windows, more check calls, which we make.

Dedicated routes

Repeat runs for the same shipper or broker. Steadier weeks once the truck has a track record.

Line 06 / Fee and questions

Box truck dispatcher questions, answered

One fee for 26 ft box trucks: 7% of gross, on loads you haul, with no setup fee and no contract. The full breakdown is on our dispatch fees page.

How much does box truck dispatch cost?

7% of gross on loads you haul. No setup fee, no monthly minimum, no contract: cancel with 30 days notice. Box trucks sit in the 7% tier because their loads are smaller and it takes more calls to fill a week. In a week you don't run, the fee is $0.

Do you dispatch 16 ft, 20 ft or 24 ft box trucks?

No. 26 ft is our minimum, not a foot less. A 26 ft box takes the pallet counts and liftgate freight that make the math work; shorter boxes miss much of that freight. We'd rather tell you now than take a fee for a week of thin loads.

Does a box truck need an IFTA sticker?

Only if it is an IFTA qualified motor vehicle and runs in more than one IFTA jurisdiction. A two-axle box truck with a gross vehicle weight of 26,000 lb or less isn't one, unless it pulls a trailer and the combination goes over 26,000 lb. Check your registered weight and confirm with your base state.

How much can a 26 ft box truck make per week?

It depends on miles, rate per mile and how many days the truck runs, and nobody can honestly promise a number. Use the month receipt on this page with your own miles and rates: it shows gross, the fee, fuel and your fixed costs, so you see what is left rather than a headline.

What is a good rate per mile for a 26 ft box truck?

One that clears your cost per mile with margin, counting the empty miles to the pickup. Box truck rates vary a lot by region and load type, so a national average is less useful than your own floor. Work out your cost per mile, then judge each offer against it.

Can you dispatch a new MC box truck?

Yes, at the same 7% rate. Many brokers limit brand-new authorities, so the first weeks lean on brokers who take new carriers. Clean deliveries and on-time paperwork open more doors quickly. Have your insurance certificate, W-9 and MC ready.

Do you dispatch cargo vans or sprinters?

No. We dispatch 26 ft box trucks and larger equipment only. No cargo vans, no sprinter vans and no box trucks under 26 ft.
